SIGMA LUNDINOVA BUILDS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE INTO THE PRODUCTS OF THE FUTURE

Sigma Lundinova develops embedded systems used in everything from nuclear power plants to data collection via migratory bird tracking devices. With embedded artificial intelligence (AI), a device can be trained to solve a specific problem. The result is usually faster and more memory-efficient operation than with conventional programming.

For example, a simple microprocessor costing a couple of dollars can learn to recognize handwritten digits by using an algorithm created through exposure to image data representing various handwriting styles.

Sigma Lundinova has experts in embedded software and can implement artificial intelligence and machine learning (ML) in new products

“I created a small project on an STM32,” says Hadi Deknache, a software engineer at Sigma Lundinova. “It supports major frameworks such as Keras and TensorFlow. AI/ML can be used for many purposes, but today there’s a strong focus on detecting movements such as falls and physical activity. AI/ML is also used in conjunction with cameras to detect objects in images, for example, for smart parking solutions and automation systems.”

“Sigma Lundinova sees great opportunities for AI/ML in embedded systems,” says Anders Alvin, account manager at Sigma Lundinova. “Many of our customers can benefit from this technology to make their products smarter.”

Sigma Lundinova has about 30 employees and offers expertise in electronics, software, project management and production. Sigma Lundinova's designs are found in successful products in areas such as medtech, cleantech, electric vehicles, IoT, industry and mobile telephony.
