Monitoring thyroid disease in a simple way
Thyrolytics is developing a pioneering method to measure the concentration of multiple hormones from a small blood sample, in a low-cost handheld device. This enables monitoring, diagnostics and treatments in a much more efficient way than the current 'send-to-lab' procedures. Healthcare centers can now have access to low-cost diagnostics of a widespread, often misdiagnosed disease.
Sigma Lundinova has successfully developed the handheld diagnostic device as a prototype and proof-of-concept. The project was completed in about four months, including development of customized electronics, mechanics and firmware, as well as prototyping, start-up and testing.
