VAQUITA TECHNOLOGIES MONITORING STATION

Vaquita Technologies presents a revolutionary battery-powered monitoring station, designed by Lundinova, intended to measure a range of critical water quality parameters.
These parameters measure several important indicators of water quality, such as turbidity, salinity, temperature, pH, organic compounds, and many more. The monitoring station can be installed in lakes, rivers, or other natural waterways, as well as in industrial environments such as wastewater treatment plants. To streamline data collection and analysis, an intuitive cloud service and mobile application seamlessly collect and present comprehensive data over time. In addition, it intelligently identifies trends and quickly alerts users when predefined thresholds are exceeded.

Measuring water quality has traditionally been a slow and labor-intensive process. In this process, water samples are collected manually, followed by trips to the site with the test tubes and finally sending them to the laboratory. Laboratory tests have long response times, with weeks of waiting before results are available, and if the site is difficult to reach, it is likely that it will never be sampled. If contamination is detected, the source of the contamination is likely to be gone by the time the laboratory results come back. By the time the results are received and contamination is detected, potential sources of contamination have disappeared, rendering any action ineffective. Together with Vaquita, Lundinova is introducing a modern method to streamline this process.

Vaquita Technologies' water quality sensor represents a paradigm shift with a modern method for streamlining water measurements. This has been made possible by an easy-to-use cloud service and mobile app that collects and presents data over time, detects trends, and alerts when limits are exceeded. This innovation allows municipalities, companies, or other industry players to monitor water quality over time and detect trends that may require action. It also enables rapid responses to sudden events, such as industrial leaks. With an impressive battery life of over six months, the sensor minimizes maintenance requirements and facilitates installation in remote or challenging environments.

Together with Vaquita, Sigma Lundinova has transformed the client's vision into a finished product within a reasonable budget. Lundinova's expertise in electronic design and enclosure construction has resulted in a reliable, cost-effective, and energy-efficient solution. "Power consumption has been the most difficult challenge, and a lot of time has been spent keeping it extremely low in standby mode," says Christian Wallenberg, lead electronics designer for this project. Thanks to some clever solutions by Christian, the battery life was extended from one to six months, while the size of the battery was halved. Johannes Book, who has been the key account manager for this project, has greatly enjoyed working on it. "It is such a joy to work with such energetic and creative people, full of ideas and solutions. They have created a fantastic product from scratch," says Johannes.

The first units are now being delivered and the product is ready to increase production volume. Vaquita Technologies is set to revolutionize the traditional industry and play an important role in improving water quality on a global level. Lundinova congratulates Vaquita on their milestone and looks forward to future collaborations to drive further innovations to improve water quality on a global level!
